The Atlantic Puffin. Often referred to as the "sea parrot." 11.5 to 13 inches long with a wingspan up to 24 inches. This bird is a common resident in many offshore islands along Newfoundland and Labrador's coast. The birds stand upright and can run over the rocky terrain. The largest colony known in Eastern North America is at Perroquet Island near Bradore at the western entrance of Belle Isle Straight. |
